Overview
We are seeking a professional HGV Class 1 Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods across various locations, ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining high standards of safety and customer service. Duties
- Operate flatbed lorries and other HGV Class 1 vehicles in accordance with road safety regulations and company policies
- Conduct pre-journey safety checks on the vehicle, including brakes, tyres, lights, and load security
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes to ensure timely deliveries
- Secure loads properly to prevent movement during transit, especially when transporting flatbed cargo
- Complete all necessary documentation accurately, including delivery notes and mileage logs
- Assist with loading and unloading goods where required, adhering to health and safety guidelines
- Maintain a professional demeanour when interacting with clients and colleagues
- Report any vehicle issues or accidents immediately to management
Skills
- Proven experience as a commercial driver, particularly with flatbed lorries or similar vehicles
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best driving practices within the UK
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving licence for HGV Class 1 (C+E)
- Delivery driver experience preferred, demonstrating reliability and punctuality
- Ability to handle physical tasks associated with securing loads on flatbeds
- Good organisational skills to plan routes effectively and manage documentation accurately
- Strong communication skills for liaising with clients and team members effectively
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules or routes as required by the business
Pay: £13.50-£19.50 per hour
