This is the first dedicated Product Director role in SMR. You’ll sit at the heart of the divisional leadership team, setting the product direction for a business that already has strong commercial ambition, capable engineering teams, and the backing of the wider RAC. The challenge now is to define what product‑led growth really looks like at pace, and make it happen.
What you’ll do
- Own the end‑to‑end digital product strategy for SMR, from portfolio vision through to prioritisation and delivery across five squad areas
- Lead and develop a team of three Product Managers, setting clear standards and raising the bar on product craft and outcomes
- Define and embed the product operating model for SMR, shaping how teams think about users, outcomes and sequencing of work
- Connect product delivery directly to the SMR P&L, making sure product decisions have a clear line to revenue, cost and growth
- Shape and maintain the SMR product roadmap at portfolio level, managing dependencies and keeping the highest‑value work in play
- Act as the senior product voice within the SMR leadership team, alongside the SMR CEO and other directors
- Filter, challenge and prioritise management demand so teams stay focused on what matters most
- Build product capability in new growth areas such as mobile fitting and vehicle recalls, including defining scope, OKRs and squad charters
- Champion a product‑led mindset in a division that’s scaling quickly and under commercial pressure
What you’ll need
- Experience operating at Product Director level with real accountability for a portfolio and a team of Product Managers
- Strong background in B2C digital product, ideally ecommerce, with a solid understanding of booking journeys, conversion and customer behaviour
- A track record of delivering commercial outcomes in fast‑paced environments
- Senior stakeholder managment, including at exec level, using evidence and clear judgement
- Proven people leadership experience, with a focus on developing PM capability
