Job Overview
You will be responsible for overseeing a varied portfolio of projects, predominantly higher end residential but also commercial and light industrial. You will take a contract through from initial pricing and client liaison through to final handover with O&M manuals where needed and sign offs. You’ll work closely with the team on the ground and accounts/back office to ensure the smooth running of the business. On site works may be required in a consultative/technical support capacity. This role requires an individual who can manage people (clients and staff), have an appetite to support the growth of the business commercially and reputationally as well as being organised and a good problem solver. You'll be managing multiple projects simultaneously, working closely with a team of in-house engineers and subcontractors, whilst maintaining the strong client relationships that are central to how we operate.
Responsibilities
- Act as the day-to-day operational lead for your team
- Lead and supervise subcontractors and site teams maintaining clear communication and collaborative working relationships
- Act as the businesses Qualified Supervisor, ensuring all electrical installations meet BS7671 standards, Electricity at Work Regulations, and relevant Codes of Practice
- Manage labour allocation, materials, and contract requirements to keep projects running efficiently and within budget
- Lead financial planning, risk management, and forecasting for your project portfolio
- Attend client meetings to review progress, performance, and requirements
- Carry out site surveys to support estimating activities, inform accurate project planning, and ensure all works have been carried out compliantly
- Monitor project progress, reporting on completed works and escalating issues as required
- Provide technical guidance and support to engineers in the field
- Where needed, support delivery of electrical compliance services
- Complete associated paperwork and documentation accurately and in a timely manner, including the review and approval of any necessary EIC’s
- Provide regular reporting on project status, budgets, cost control, and timelines
- Support business growth through planning, resource management, and operational input.
Skills & Experience
- A minimum of two years’ experience in periodic inspection and testing
- Experience as an Electrical Contracts or Project Manager within the Electrical industry or Fire & Security industry
- Demonstrable background in Local Authority, Social Housing and Commercial contracts and projects.
- Strong commercial awareness with hands on experience managing project finances and risk
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges
- Solid knowledge of BS 7671, the Electricity at Work Regulations and relevant Health & Safety legislation
- Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate site teams, engineers and subcontractors
- Outstanding communication, customer service, and stakeholder management skills
- Proven experience delivering electrical programmes in compliance services (EICRs, emergency lighting, Part 6 detection)
Qualifications
Essential
- City & Guilds 2391 (Electrical Testing & Inspection) or 2394 and 2395 (Initial Verification and Periodic Inspection & Testing)
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations/18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (C&G 2382-18 or later)
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation
Desirable
- ECS Contracts Manager (CSCS Black Card)
- IOSH Managing Safely
- ECS JIB Approved Electrician (CSCS Gold Card)
Requirements
- All applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK, proof of eligibility will be required prior to starting employment (essential)
- Ideally live within 45 minutes of the office
- Valid UK driving licence (essential)
