Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Nursery Manager to oversee daily operations within our childcare facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for working with children and supporting their early development. This role involves ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children while maintaining effective communication with staff, parents, and external agencies. The Nursery Manager will be responsible for implementing high standards of childcare, managing staff, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This is a paid position suitable for individuals committed to fostering a positive learning environment for young children.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the nursery team, providing guidance, support, and supervision to ensure high-quality childcare delivery
- Develop and implement programmes that promote children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development in line with early childhood education standards
- Oversee daily nursery operations, including planning activities, managing resources, and maintaining health and safety protocols
- Build strong relationships with parents/carers, offering regular updates on children's progress and addressing any concerns promptly
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and maintain accurate records related to children's development and staff performance
- Organise staff rotas, recruitment, training sessions, and performance appraisals to foster a motivated team environment
- Promote a positive nursery culture centred on inclusivity, safety, and continuous improvement
- Drive initiatives to enhance the nursery’s reputation within the community through engagement and outreach activities
Experience
- Proven management experience within a nursery or early childhood education setting
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team of childcare professionals
- Extensive knowledge of childcare regulations and health & safety standards applicable in the UK
- Experience working directly with children across various age groups; familiarity with child development milestones is desirable
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal; ability to liaise effectively with parents/carers and external agencies
- Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent are preferred
- Experience in organising activities that support early learning principles
- Valid driving licence is advantageous for operational flexibility but not essential
