Swimming Teacher (part-time)
Whitworth Leisure Centre is an independent leisure facility comprising a pool, gym and fitness studio. We are a registered charity run by a Board of Trustees, and receive no funding from local government. Our mission is to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment where every member of our community is given access to quality leisure, fitness, and wellness facilities, promoting not only physical health but mental wellbeing and social connectivity.
We are looking to recruit a motivated and reliable Swimming Teacher to join our team. This is a permanent part-time position working 15 hours per week in total. The working hours would cover the following:
National Curriculum School Swimming Lessons:
- Monday: 1:00pm–3:00pm
- Tuesday: 9:45am–11:45am, and 1:00pm–3:00pm
1-2-1 and small group lessons:
- Monday evening: 4:00pm–7:00pm
- Thursday evening: 4:00pm–7:00pm
- Friday evening: 4:00pm–7:00pm
Total weekly working hours: 15 hours
Further hours delivering baby and toddler lessons may also be available on Friday mornings.
Requirements
- Swim England Level 2 Swimming Teacher Qualification (or equivalent recognised qualification)
- Experience teaching children of varying ages and abilities
- Confident delivering National Curriculum school swimming lessons
- Ability to teach 1-to-1 and small group lessons
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Friendly, enthusiastic and reliable with a positive attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Commitment to safeguarding children and promoting a safe learning environment
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable
- Experience teaching babies and toddlers
- National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC) or current lifesaving qualification
- Experience teaching adults and improvers
- First Aid qualification
- Flexible approach to working additional hours when required
