HR Manager
Head Office Based | Regular Travel to Preston, Wigan & Chester
M&A Management is seeking an experienced HR Manager to support our multi-site operations across the group.
This is a high-impact, group-level role focused on strengthening HR governance, improving management capability and embedding consistent, compliant people practices across a regulated environment. You will play a key role in supporting leaders, improving operational standards and ensuring robust, defensible HR frameworks are maintained across the group.
The successful candidate will combine strong employee relations expertise with the ability to coach managers, drive accountability and implement scalable HR systems that create consistency across multiple sites.
This is a varied, hands-on role requiring excellent communication skills, professionalism, discretion and strong attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Management Support
- Manage complex ER cases end-to-end, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance, probation and capability matters
- Provide practical, legally compliant HR advice in line with UK employment law and best practice
- Coach and support managers to improve confidence, consistency and decision-making
- Support sensitive conversations, performance concerns and team challenges
- Promote accountability, professionalism and consistent people management standards across the group
- Reduce organisational risk through proactive case management, accurate documentation and procedural compliance
Governance, Compliance & HR Standards
- Strengthen HR governance frameworks across multiple sites
- Devise, implement and monitor robust HR systems, processes and controls
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance with employment legislation, internal policy and regulatory requirements
- Identify risks and inconsistencies, implementing corrective actions and sustainable improvements
- Produce clear reporting and documentation to support audit readiness and defensible decision-making
- Drive standardisation of HR practices and employee experience across the group
Workforce Compliance & Sponsorship
- Maintain Sponsor Licence compliance and UKVI audit readiness
- Complete right to work checks and visa tracking processes
- Advise the team on SOC codes, salary thresholds and sponsorship eligibility
- Strengthen internal audit controls and documentation standards
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Develop and embed structured, compliant recruitment processes across the group
- Standardise safer recruitment practices in line with sector and regulatory requirements
- Audit recruitment and staff files for compliance and accuracy
- Devise and implement consistent onboarding frameworks to support retention and engagement
- Support managers with recruitment planning and hiring quality
Policy, Training & Organisational Development
- Review and modernise HR policies, procedures and management toolkits
- Introduce practical HR frameworks that support scalability and operational consistency
- Identify training needs and coordinate appropriate development initiatives
- Deliver training and coaching to strengthen management capability and embed best practice
- Support wider people initiatives focused on engagement, retention, performance and culture
About You
- Previous experience within the UK care sector is essential
- CIPD Level 5 qualified, or working towards qualification
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
- Proven experience managing Sponsor Licence compliance and UKVI requirements
- Able to balance operational ER casework with longer-term improvement projects
- Highly organised, detail-oriented and comfortable working within regulated environments
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility and challenge constructively
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly between sites
Pay: £40,000.00 per year
