Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring smooth kitchen operations, assisting with food preparation, and upholding high standards of hygiene and safety. Previous experience in food service, hospitality, or similar settings is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
Duties
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, including peeling, chopping, and assembling ingredients
- Support chefs with cooking activities as directed
- Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including washing dishes, utensils, pots, and pans
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is clean and stored correctly after use
- Organise storage areas to ensure ingredients and supplies are easily accessible and properly stored
- Help with waste disposal and recycling procedures in accordance with health and safety standards
- Support the team during busy service periods by providing general assistance as needed
- Follow all health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food preparation or hospitality environments such as restaurants, hotels, or catering services is desirable but not mandatory
- Knowledge of kitchen hygiene standards and safety procedures is advantageous
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining attention to detail
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work well within a team
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and tasks throughout shifts
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills related to culinary operations
