Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Warehouse/Stores Person to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing stock, handling materials, and supporting the efficient operation of our warehouse facilities. This role requires a proactive individual with a strong understanding of warehouse management systems and materials handling procedures. The role is an autonomous role, requiring the ability to work independently and make decisions. Duties
- Receive, inspect, and record incoming stock using warehouse management systems such as AS400
- Load and unload goods from lorries and containers safely and efficiently
- Pick and pack orders accurately for dispatch, ensuring correct quantities and specifications are met
- Operate forklift trucks and other mechanical equipment to move heavy or bulky items
- Stock shelves and storage areas systematically, maintaining organisation and accessibility
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including documentation and inventory control
- Maintain accurate records of stock movements and storage locations
- Support materials handling tasks, including lifting heavy loads in accordance with health and safety guidelines
- Conduct regular stock checks and assist in inventory management processes
- Ensure the warehouse environment remains clean, safe, and compliant with safety regulations
Requirements
- Proven experience in warehouse operations or stores management is preferred
- Valid forklift licence or certification is highly desirable
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems such as AS400 or similar platforms
- Mechanical knowledge or construction experience is advantageous for handling specialised equipment or materials
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently on a daily basis
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in stock control and documentation
- Good communication skills to coordinate with team members effectively
- Prior experience in materials handling, picking & packing, shipping & receiving is beneficial
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to warehouse environments
