Genius Foods is looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to lead and manage our procurement function at our Bathgate site. The role will report into the Finance Director and manage a team of 2.
This is a hands-on role with responsibility for both the day-to-day delivery of procurement activity and the longer-term development of our supplier base. You will manage supplier relationships, contracts, pricing and negotiations, while ensuring that our suppliers consistently meet our requirements for quality, food safety, traceability, sustainability, cost and service.
Working closely with colleagues across Finance, Operations, Technical and R&D, you will help embed effective procurement practices throughout the business and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, manage risk, support innovation and deliver value.
What you’ll be doing
- Managing day-to-day procurement activity, including supplier management, contract reviews and price reviews.
- Supporting procurement activity undertaken by other teams and helping to embed clear procurement guidelines and best practice.
- Selecting, developing and managing suppliers and strategic partners.
- Evaluating supplier capabilities, cost structures, risks and longer-term partnership potential.
- Ensuring suppliers meet the required standards for quality, delivery, food safety, traceability and sustainability.
- Leading supplier negotiations, competitive bids, contract renewals and commercial reviews.
- Working with suppliers to identify efficiencies, innovation opportunities and support for new product development.
- Completing quarterly forecasting, annual budgeting and strategic planning activity.
- Leading, mentoring and developing the Procurement team.
- Building effective relationships with key internal stakeholders, suppliers, auditors and external partners.
What we’re looking for
You will be a commercially focused procurement professional who is comfortable balancing operational priorities with longer-term supplier and procurement strategy.
You should have:
- Experience working within an FMCG, retail or food production environment.
- Strong project planning and management skills.
- The confidence and credibility to work with and influence stakeholders across the business.
- A proven ability to develop effective supplier relationships and negotiate cost-efficient contracts.
- Strong commercial judgement and a structured approach to supplier evaluation, negotiation and risk management.
- A sound understanding of business computer systems.
- A degree or equivalent level of education.
Experience in any of the following would be an advantage:
- ERP or SAP systems.
- Team leadership and people management.
- Coaching and developing others.
- Food safety requirements.
- Commodity purchasing and market analysis.
