Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and reliable 7.5 tonne lorry driver to join our team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely operating a 7.5-tonne delivery vehicle to transport building materials efficiently and securely to various locations.
This role will include going to sites, builders merchants, quarry’s and tipping waste off at tips.
We are looking for someone who can drive this vehicle but is also willing to help the guys on site such as unload the lorry etc.
DutiesSafely operate a 7.5 tonne lorry to deliver goods across designated routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the truck is in optimal condition for each journey
- Load and unload cargo with care, ensuring items are secured properly for transit, especially when handling flatbed deliveries
- Plan efficient delivery routes to meet deadlines while minimizing fuel consumption and travel time
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, including logs, delivery notes, and customer signatures
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery schedules, delays, or issues on the road
- Provide excellent customer service by representing the company professionally during deliveries and interactions with clients
Requirements
- Valid UK Category C1 (7.5 tonne) driving license with a clean driving record
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or commercial driver, preferably with flatbed or similar vehicle experience
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and vehicle maintenance procedures
- Ability to handle physical tasks such as loading/unloading cargo safely and efficiently
- Excellent navigation skills and familiarity with local routes and delivery areas
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and customers
- Flexibility to work varied shifts including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed
