Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Level 3 SEND Teaching Assistant (TA) to support children with special educational needs within a Primary school setting. The successful candidate will work closely with pupils, teachers, and other professionals to foster an inclusive learning environment. Duties
- Provide personalised support to children with SEND, including those with autism and other disabilities, both in classroom activities and during specialised programmes.
- Assist in implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) tailored to each child's needs.
- Support children with their daily routines, including toileting, feeding, and mobility assistance where necessary.
- Foster a nurturing environment that encourages social interaction, communication, and independence among pupils.
- Collaborate with teachers to plan and deliver engaging learning activities suitable for diverse needs.
- Monitor behaviour and provide behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
- Support with toddler care activities for younger children where applicable.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and behaviour, reporting any concerns to the appropriate staff members.
Skills
- Proven experience working with individuals with autism or other special educational needs is highly desirable.
- Strong teaching skills with the ability to adapt activities to meet individual learning requirements.
- Experience working with children in educational or care settings, particularly those with disabilities or additional needs.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with pupils, colleagues, and parents/carers.
- Knowledge of special education practices and strategies for supporting children with diverse needs.
- Compassionate approach towards working with children, including toddlers, demonstrating patience and understanding.
