The Rose & Crown has been part of Ulverston for over 40 years. We’re a proper local pub with a strong reputation for great food, good drinks and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
We’re now looking for an experienced Head Chef to take the lead in our kitchen and help us continue to build on that reputation.

The role
As Head Chef, you’ll take ownership of the kitchen, leading your team and making sure the food leaving the pass is consistently of a high standard.
You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, from prep and service through to ordering, stock control, food safety and team development.
You’ll work closely with the wider management team and have the opportunity to bring your own ideas to the menu while maintaining the standards our guests expect.
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who takes pride in their food, cares about their team and enjoys being part of a proper local pub.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for an experienced chef who is ready to lead from the front.
You’ll need to be:
- An experienced chef with previous senior or Head Chef experience
- A confident and supportive leader who can get the best from their team
- Passionate about good, well-presented food
- Organised and able to manage a kitchen effectively
- Comfortable managing stock, ordering and food costs
- Knowledgeable about food safety and kitchen standards
- Someone who takes pride in maintaining a clean, professional kitchen
- Reliable, hands-on and willing to get stuck in
- A good communicator who works well with the wider team
