Step Into Teaching is supporting a fantastic school in Newham that is dedicated to supporting students in their pathways centre with varying levels of learning support needs.This is a unique opportunity to gain invaluable teaching experience in a support hub and develop the skills needed to become a Qualified Teacher while making a significant impact on students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The Role:
- Work alongside a qualified teacher to deliver engaging lessons to small groups of students (6-8 per class).
- Develop creative, supportive approaches to teaching core subjects such as Maths, Science and English, tailored to the needs of SEMH learners.
- Support and inspire students from KS3 - KS5, helping them overcome barriers to learning.
- Learn from experienced mentors
- Gain hands-on teaching experience with full training provided while earning a competitive salary.
The Opportunity:

- Full-time role (Monday – Friday) starting Sept and continuing until July 2027 and beyond.
- Salary: £565.00–£580.00 per week depending on experience.
- Opportunity to progress to fully funded Teacher Training after completing this placement.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Hold a 2:2 or above degree in a Humanities subject (e.g., History, Geography, English, Religious Studies, or related).
- Demonstrate a passion for teaching and the ability to inspire students in Humanities subjects.
- Have the ability to see beyond behaviour, supporting students with Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and fostering their development.
- Manage behaviour positively and in line with the school’s ethos and policies.
- Show flexibility, self-motivation, and a genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships with students and staff.
- Deliver well-structured 1:1 and small group intervention sessions.
- Have at least 1 year of experience working in education (e.g., as a Teaching Assistant, Mentor, or Higher-Level Teaching Assistant, Tutor).
