The Role
Dareshack is a speciality coffee and bar at the Vintry Building, 20 Wine Street, Bristol, sharing a site with The Gaffe Comedy Club and Bristol Pastry Kitchen (BPK). We're looking for a General Manager to take full ownership of Dareshack's day-to-day trade and long-term direction: café operations, team leadership, quality, and profitability.
This is a genuine leadership role, not an admin position. You will run Dareshack as if it were your own business, with decision-making power, while reporting into the venue's Operations on performance, costs, and investment needs.
What You'll Own
Full day-to-day running of Dareshack, café trade, quality, standards, and customer experience
Line management of the day team, plus oversight of the Assistant Manager (night/bar trade), who reports to you
Coffee programme and quality, sourcing, training, and maintaining a genuine speciality standard
Staff rotas, recruitment, induction, and day-to-day people management, including regular one-to-ones and staff wellbeing
Food hygiene and compliance standards (working within our SFBB system) maintaining and building toward a 5-star FHRS rating
Financial reporting, sales, costs, and profitability, back to the Head of Operations on a regular cadence
Supplier relationships, ordering, negotiating terms, and resolving issues directly
Stock control and wastage tracking as part of managing profitability
Equipment servicing and maintenance contracts, coffee machine, grinder, POS, fridges/freezers
Insurance and licensing renewals relevant to Dareshack's operation
Coordinating with The Gaffe and BPK on shared building costs and logistics
Identifying and acting on opportunities to grow trade, including extended trading hours and event-led income alongside The Gaffe's live programme
What We're Looking For
Genuine speciality coffee knowledge and experience this is a non-negotiable for the role
Previous experience managing a café, bar, or similar hospitality operation, including staff management
Comfortable owning a P&L

Pay: £30,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
