The role:
Kendal Nutricare is looking for a committed and motivated Production Deputy Team Leader to support the management of our production line across people, product, and process.
This role is responsible for assisting in delivering daily operational targets while ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety, quality, hygiene, manufacturing, and cost standards. The successful candidate will lead by example, uphold high standards of professionalism, and drive performance within the team.
This is a full time role based at our headquarters in Kendal.
You will be required to work a rotating 3 week shift pattern, including some night shifts.
- Earlies: 06:00-13:30 Monday to Friday
- Nights: 21:00-06:30 Monday, Tuesday and 21:00-06:15 Wednesday, Thursday
- Lates: 13:15-21:15 Monday to Thursday and 13:15-18:45 Friday.
In time, there will be a change in working pattern which will include Weekend and Bank Holiday working. This will be a "4-on-4-off" shift pattern over an 8-week rotation. This will be discussed at interview and you will be given notice in advance of these changes.
What you’ll be doing:
- Assisting with driving performance and growth through excellent operational knowledge
- Overseeing the operation and running a range of high-speed complex cartoning/over-wrapping machines and ancillary equipment
- Facilitating efficient and effective product changeovers by carrying out powder clean-outs, line cleaning and clearance duties within targeted timescales.
- Motivating and inspiring staff to achieve or exceed the team’s performance targets
- Supporting and encouraging the production team to embrace continuous improvement and lean projects
- To assist with the defining, creating and developing solutions to identify the root cause to problems to avoid future occurrences and develop this practice with the production team
- To seeking opportunities within the production team to make changes in a collaborative way to create improvements
- To assist the Team Leader ensuring poor performance is addressed and Employee Relation issues are resolved within the parameters of Company procedures, seeking guidance from Operation Management and HR where appropriate
- Complying with safety procedures including but not limited to: adopting safe working practices, wearing the required protective clothing and use of safety equipment appropriate to the role
What you’ll need:
- Strong communication and people management experience
- Proactive and adaptable approach in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Proven problem-solving ability with strong prioritisation and workload management skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Forklift Truck licence, or willingness to work towards obtaining one
- Previous experience within the food manufacturing industry and familiarity with production machinery is desirable but not essential (full training will be provided)
- Flexibility to work changing shift patterns)
