Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and cooking, with a particular focus on Sashimi, Nigiri and Maki rolls as well as other Japanese cuisine. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards for taste, presentation, and food safety.
Duties
- Prepare Sashimi, Nigiri, Maki rolls and other Japanese dishes with precision and attention to detail.
- Cutting fish maintaining quality of ingredients.
- Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and handled according to food safety regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including workstations and equipment.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal preparation and timely service.
- Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs to management.
- Stay updated on current trends in sushi preparation and presentation techniques.
- Provide excellent customer service by engaging with guests when necessary and accommodating special requests.
Requirements
- minimum 3 years of proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional Japanese kitchen.
- Strong knife skills with a focus on sushi-making techniques and Japanese cuisine.
- Knowledge of food safety practices to ensure the highest standards of hygiene are maintained.
- Ability to maintain and follow recipes, processes and standards
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required by the restaurant's schedule.
- Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues.
Experience in Japanese hot food is a plus.

Pay: £34,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
