Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician and MOT Tester to join our reputable automotive service centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of vehicles, ensuring they meet safety and environmental standards. The position involves conducting MOT tests in accordance with legal requirements and performing all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repairs. A valid MOT tester certification is essential, along with strong mechanical knowledge and practical skills.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive vehicle diagnostics to identify faults and recommend repairs
- Perform routine servicing, repairs, and maintenance on various vehicle makes and models
- Carry out MOT testing in compliance with legal standards and regulations
- Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment efficiently to complete tasks
- Ensure all work is completed to high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency
- Assist in maintaining the workshop’s organisation, cleanliness, and safety protocols
- Heavy lifting of vehicle parts or components as required during repair processes
- Keep accurate records of work carried out on each vehicle for documentation purposes
- Provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs and maintenance needs clearly
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Vehicle Technician or similar role within an automotive workshop
- Valid MOT Tester certification is required (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems and components
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely as part of routine tasks
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively
- Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent are desirable but not essential
