The Curious Mr Fox is an independent, family-run venue in the heart of Durham, specialising in great food, cocktails, private events and exceptional customer service.
We’re looking for a reliable and trustworthy Cleaner / Key Holder to help maintain the high standards our guests expect.
This is an important role within the business, working independently to ensure the venue is spotless and ready for service each day.
The Role
You will be responsible for opening the building, carrying out cleaning duties across multiple floors, and ensuring all public areas, toilets, stairways and event spaces are presented to an exceptional standard.
This role is largely unsupervised, so we’re looking for someone who can work independently, manage their own workload and take pride in their work.
Working Hours
The role involves approximately 2 hours per shift on the following days:
- Wednesday: latest 7:30am – 9:30am
- Thursday: latest 9:30am – 11:30am
- Friday: latest 9:30am – 11:30am
- Saturday: latest 7:30am – 9:30am
- Sunday: latest 7:30am – 9:30am
Some flexibility is available around start times provided the venue is ready before opening.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous commercial cleaning experience preferred
- Trustworthy and reliable with excellent timekeeping
- Comfortable working alone and taking responsibility for opening the venue
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to identify and maintain high cleanliness standards
- Physically fit and capable of carrying cleaning equipment between floors
- Comfortable climbing multiple flights of stairs while carrying items such as vacuum cleaners and cleaning supplies
- Someone who takes pride in presenting a venue to the highest standard
Key Responsibilities
- Opening the building and carrying out key holder duties
- Vacuuming, mopping and dusting throughout the venue
- Cleaning guest toilets and staff areas
- Maintaining stairways and communal spaces
- Emptying bins and replenishing consumables
- Reporting maintenance issues when identified
- Ensuring all areas are clean, safe and ready for guests before service begins
