We are seeking an Assistant Psychologist to join our well-established Tri-borough Learning Disabilities Service in Kensington and Chelsea. Our multidisciplinary team works closely with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Learning Disabilities Social Care Team to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your clinical skills while supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism and people whose behaviour may be perceived as challenging. You will work directly with service users, families, carers and partner organisations, while receiving regular supervision from experienced psychologists.
You will hold a degree in Psychology (or postgraduate qualification in Psychology) and have knowledge of research methods, data analysis and IT systems, alongside the ability to communicate information clearly and accurately in writing. An understanding of learning disability services and the ability to work collaboratively are important. Relevant experience may have been gained through employment, placements, voluntary work or other settings.
The service has strong links with North London Clinical Psychology Doctoral Training programmes and regularly supports trainee placements, providing a supportive learning environment with opportunities for professional development.
Working under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist, you will:
Support protocol-based psychological assessments using appropriate assessment tools, structured observations, interviews, questionnaires and psychological tests, including neuropsychological assessments where appropriate .
Contribute to the formulation, planning and delivery of psychological interventions for adults with learning disabilities in community, inpatient and residential settings.
Assist with the planning, coordination and delivery of therapeutic groups.
Work alongside multidisciplinary colleagues to assess needs, review care and contribute to person-centred care planning.
Help develop psychologically informed approaches that enhance care across the service.
Work collaboratively with service users, families, carers and partner organisations to support positive outcomes.
Contribute to service evaluation, audit, research activity and data analysis to support service improvement.
Maintain accurate clinical records and work in line with professional, organisational and NHS standards.
