About the Role
Pollock Lifts manufacture Residential Elevators, Through Floor Lifts and Step Lifts in Carrickfergus, mainly sold to the residential market direct, to Local Health Authorities and Housing Associations and also via a wide dealer network throughout the world.
Due to expansion, we are seeking Assembly Operators to join our production team in the Carrickfergus area. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling both mechanical and electrical sub-assemblies used in our range of products, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety and workmanship.
Whilst experience within a manufacturing environment would be advantageous, training can be given to candidates who can demonstrate a desire to learn new skills.
These are full-time in-factory permanent positions with no opportunity for remote working.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble mechanical components such as lift frames, drive systems, platforms, and structural parts in line with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Assemble electrical sub-assemblies including control panels, wiring harnesses, sensors and safety devices.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, wiring schematics, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Carry out electrical tasks such as cable routing, crimping, termination, and basic testing (e.g. continuity checks).
- Use hand tools, power tools and specialist assembly equipment safely and efficiently.
- Conduct in-process inspections and functional testing to ensure compliance with company quality standards.
- Identify, report and support resolution of defects or non-conformances.
- Adhere to all health & safety procedures, including PPE requirements and safe systems of work.
- Maintain a clean and organised workstation in line with 5S and continuous improvement practices.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, quality, and production teams to meet build schedules and improve processes.
- Complete all required production and quality documentation accurately.
- Any other tasks as deemed reasonable by your Supervisor.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a mechanical and/or electrical assembly role within a manufacturing environment would be an advantage, but not essential.
- Excellent timekeeping and attendance record.
- Familiarity with assembly tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good manual dexterity and practical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment to meet production targets.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ / City & Guilds (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably machinery or access equipment.
- Understanding of relevant standards (e.g. machinery safety, low voltage, or EMC directives).
- Experience working within a regulated manufacturing environment.
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing/production environment based in Carrickfergus area.
- Standing for extended periods and manual handling of components.
- Use of PPE including safety footwear, gloves, bump cap, ear and eye protection.
- Occasional overtime may be required to meet production targets.
