Shift pattern: 22:45 – 08:15 on a two week rota

Newport City Council’s Residential Services are currently recruiting Night Care Officers to join our dedicated teams across several children’s homes. This is a vital and rewarding role, focused on ensuring children and young people feel safe, settled, and supported throughout the night.
As a Night Care Officer, you will support children and young people with a range of needs, including:
Learning and physical disabilities- Social, emotional, and behavioural challenges
- Histories of trauma and adverse childhood experiences
Your role will include maintaining a peaceful nighttime environment, carrying out regular welfare checks, responding sensitively to night-time distress or waking, and ensuring routines are followed in a way that promotes emotional security and wellbeing.
We are committed to creating a warm, stable, and family like environment, day and night, where children feel safe, valued, and cared for. Our Night Care Officers are carefully selected and receive training in trauma informed practice and attachment focused care, equipping them to provide consistent, nurturing support during overnight hours.

Experience working with children is helpful, but not essential. We know people bring a wealth of transferable skills, and we’re committed to helping you succeed.
What You’ll Receive:

- Support to achieve your Level 3 qualification in Working with Children and Young People (if you don’t already have it).
- Attachment focused training to help you build healthy, positive relationships with the young people you support.
