The successful candidate will have:
Education and Experience: NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and Certified membership (CertIOSH) are essential. Demonstrable experience as a health and safety professional working across a range of health and safety hazards relevant to a university environment. Experience of delivering display screen equipment and home working assessments, developing and reviewing risk assessments and systems of work, and delivering and managing training is essential. Qualifications in specialist areas of health and safety (e.g., lasers, construction, biological safety, radiation) and experience in the FE/HE/Research sectors are advantageous.
Key Competencies and Interpersonal Skills: You will have excellent networking, computer literacy, and presentation skills, and the ability to organise workload, prioritise effectively, and work accurately under pressure. Proven written and oral communication skills and the ability to articulate information and influence others are essential.
You will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, deal with people pleasantly and professionally, and influence people at all levels. A solutions focused approach, with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to operate with a high degree of discretion, impartiality and confidentiality are essential.
Other Requirements: You will have a flexible outlook, enabling support for new initiatives and approaches. The role is primarily based in Coventry, but travel to our other UK sites will be necessary occasionally. You will have a strong commitment to maintaining and developing knowledge and skills as a health and safety practitioner. A full driving licence and use of own vehicle are advantageous.
