Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Long Distance Van Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering goods over long distances, ensuring timely and safe transportation. This role requires excellent driving skills, strong organisational abilities, and effective communication to coordinate deliveries efficiently. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a focus on safety and customer satisfaction. Lowestoft or Norwich based. Variable start/finish times depending on workload.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a long-distance van to deliver goods across various locations
- Meet delivery schedules and optimise fuel consumption
- Strap loads securely, load and unload cargo, including heavy lifting when necessary
- Ensure all deliveries are completed accurately and on time
- Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the vehicle at all times
- Complete all required documentation accurately, including delivery logs and mileage records
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and clients regarding delivery status or any issues encountered during transit
- Follow all traffic laws and company policies to ensure safety on the road
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or commercial driver, preferably with long-distance routes
- Valid driver’s licence with a maximum 6pts on licence. No DR's
- Experience in warehouse operations or logistics is advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when required during loading or unloading processes
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and clients
- Excellent organisational skills for route planning and time management
- Knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for long-distance driving
