Cook – The Drumlins Restaurant

The Drumlins is looking for an experienced, reliable and enthusiastic Cook to join our team.
This is a hands-on kitchen position suited to someone who enjoys working in a busy café environment and takes pride in preparing good-quality, consistent food. We are looking for a Cook rather than a Chef, so the role will primarily involve preparing and cooking dishes from our established menu, following our existing standards and working closely with the wider kitchen team.
Our menu includes a range of breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes, so previous experience working in restaurant, or similar fast-paced food environment would be beneficial.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and cooking dishes from our existing menu
- Ensuring food is prepared consistently and to a high standard
- Preparing ingredients ahead of service
- Working efficiently during busy breakfast and lunchtime periods
- Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen
- Following all food hygiene, health and safety procedures
- Monitoring food quality and presentation
- Working closely with other members of the kitchen and front-of-house team
- Helping ensure orders are prepared accurately and within a reasonable timeframe
- Supporting the wider team with general kitchen duties when required
What we’re looking for:
- Previous experience working as a Cook or within a professional kitchen environment
- Confidence preparing and cooking a range of breakfast and lunch dishes
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to remain calm and work efficiently during busy service periods
- A good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety
- Reliability and good attendance
- Strong attention to detail
- A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
- Someone who takes pride in the quality of the food they prepare
