As our business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced, professional Freelance Wedding & Events Catering Manager to join our team on a self-employed basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside a passionate team delivering weddings, private celebrations, corporate events, and functions across a variety of beautiful venues.
The Role
As the Catering Manager, you will be the face of Napier Catering on event days, ensuring every detail is delivered to the highest standard. You will oversee front-of-house operations, coordinate event staff, liaise with clients and suppliers, and work closely with our kitchen team to ensure a seamless guest experience.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced events environment, has exceptional organisational skills, and takes pride in delivering outstanding hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage weddings, events, and functions from setup through to completion.
- Lead and motivate front-of-house teams to deliver exceptional service.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, wedding coordinators, and venue representatives on event days.
- Coordinate service timings between front and back of house.
- Ensure all event spaces are presented to the highest standard.
- Manage staffing levels and delegate responsibilities effectively.
- Handle any operational issues professionally and efficiently.
- Maintain high standards of guest care throughout every event.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing requirements.

- Previous experience managing weddings, events, or hospitality operations.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
- Calm and professional under pressure.
- A hands-on approach and willingness to lead by example.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and peak wedding season dates.
- A full driving licence and access to transport is desirable.
