We are looking for an experienced and capable mechanic to join our busy engineering workshop supporting a mixed fleet of Vehicles and plant equipment.
This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, can diagnose faults properly and is confident working across a wide range of diesel engines, hydraulics, mechanical systems and associated equipment.
You will be joining a fast-paced workshop environment where reliability, safety, problem solving and getting equipment back into service quickly are key.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical, hydraulic, engine and fault-finding issues
- Conduct planned preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs
- Inspect, test and troubleshoot engines, drivetrains, braking, suspension and ancillary systems
- Complete repairs to a high standard with a right first-time mentality
- Work safely and maintain high workshop housekeeping standards
- Assist with identifying recurring faults and reliability improvements
- Ensure all work is completed in line with workshop procedures and safety standards
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Proven experience as a mechanic working on a mixture of cars, commercial vehicles, trucks and/or plant machinery
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Experience with diesel engines and hydraulic systems
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Good practical problem-solving ability
- High standards of workmanship and attention to detail
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- HGV, plant or agricultural machinery experience
- Relevant mechanical qualifications (NVQ/City & Guilds or equivalent)
- Experience using diagnostic equipment
