Catering Assistant / Kitchen Porter
SAAJ Consultancy is recruiting on behalf of a respected catering client for Catering Assistants / Kitchen Porters to work within busy site canteens across construction, infrastructure and secure-site environments.
This is an excellent opportunity for reliable and hardworking individuals with catering, hospitality or kitchen experience who are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and take pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food hygiene and customer service.
The Role
You will support the day-to-day operation of the site canteen and kitchen, helping to provide an efficient catering service to employees and contractors working on site.
Your duties may include:
- Welcoming and serving customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Setting up and maintaining dining, counter and service areas.
- Assisting with basic food preparation and food service.
- Washing dishes, utensils and kitchen equipment.
- Maintaining high standards of kitchen and dining-area cleanliness.
- Organising and storing ingredients, deliveries and kitchen supplies.
- Following food hygiene, health and safety and site procedures at all times.
- Supporting chefs and other members of the catering team.
- Completing general kitchen and catering duties as required.
- Working collaboratively with the wider catering team to ensure smooth daily operations.
Requirements
- Previous experience within catering, hospitality, a kitchen or a similar fast-paced environment is preferred.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good attention to detail and a strong commitment to cleanliness and food hygiene.
- Comfortable working within a construction, infrastructure or secure-site environment.
- Ability to follow strict site health, safety and security procedures.
- Flexibility regarding duties and working hours.
- Immediate availability is preferred.
Own Transport Is Essential
Applicants must have their own reliable mode of transport.
Many of our client sites are located in remote construction compounds or secure locations where public transport is limited or unavailable. Candidates must therefore be able to travel independently to and from the workplace for their scheduled shifts.

Security & Site Requirements
Depending on the site, successful applicants may be required to:
- Complete a DBS or other security/clearance checks.
- Meet the client's site-access and security requirements.
- Complete alcohol and drug testing where required by the client.
- Provide the necessary right-to-work and identification documentation.
Employment will be subject to successfully meeting the requirements applicable to the particular client site.
