Continued growth and development means that we now require a Wood Machinist who possesses experience in the use of Cross cut saws, spindle moulders, vertical panel saws, band re-saws and combination planers. Experience of using multi head moulders is essential.
As a Wood Machinist at Avon Timber Merchants you will be responsible for setting and operating traditional woodworking machines. The ideal candidate will have qualifications in wood machining and proven experience within the industry. A good work ethic and positive attitude are essential.
The role will entail:
- Machining timber to customer requirements.
- Packing and labelling orders quickly and correctly in order to meet customer demands.
- Following a daily work schedule as prepared by Management.
- Communicating machine breakdowns or any other issues.
- Maintaining tidiness of the mill.
- Manual handling and lifting.
- Being aware of and complying with the Companies Health and Safety policies.
- Carrying out any reasonable requests as directed by Management.
- Developing a culture of exceeding customer’s expectations.
The ideal candidate would be someone who:
- Has a good level of physical fitness.
- Has the ability to work as part of a small team to produce various timber components.
- Is able to adapt to sudden changes or requests in relation to the production plan.
- Will possess an eye for detail and remain focused and conscientious even when under pressure.
- Has experience of working within a ‘Timber’ environment.
- Would be willing to undertake relevant training and development.
Hours of work are 08.00-17.15 Monday to Friday.
