Heart Residential Support is exclusively supporting an ambitious and values-led children's residential provider in the appointment of a Registered Manager and Responsible Individual for an exceptional new flagship therapeutic children's home in Hertfordshire.
This is a rare opportunity to join a service at the beginning of an exciting new chapter and play a key role in shaping a high-quality, family-style therapeutic environment designed around the needs, aspirations and futures of the young people living there.
The service is based within a magnificent seven-bedroom historic property, finished and developed to an exceptionally high standard.
Designed to feel like a real family home rather than an institution, the service will provide an aspirational and nurturing environment for up to four male young people, with an additional respite cottage on site.

- Seven-bedroom main children's home
- Separate on-site respite cottage

- Therapeutic and relationship-based approach
- Long-term support for young people where appropriate
The service will initially support young people with a range of complex needs, including placements involving Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).
The long-term aim is to help each young person develop the confidence, skills and independence they need to move successfully into adulthood.
This includes a strong focus on education, rehabilitation, emotional wellbeing, life skills, employment, apprenticeships, independence and future planning.
Registered Manager
We are looking for an experienced and inspirational Registered Manager who can take ownership of the home and help establish an exceptional culture from day one.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading, inspiring and developing the staff team
- Creating a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment
- Maintaining excellent Ofsted and regulatory standards
- Ensuring strong safeguarding and quality assurance
- Embedding trauma-informed and relationship-based practice
- Driving positive outcomes for every young person
- Developing effective education, independence and pathway planning
- Working closely with the Responsible Individual and wider leadership team
- Building a positive culture where staff are supported to deliver outstanding care
- Leading the service through registration, development and future growth
Registered Manager – Essential Experience
- 2–3+ years' experience as an Ofsted Registered Manager
- Previous Ofsted registration with proven URN history
- Strong experience managing children's residential services
- A positive inspection and regulatory history
- Strong safeguarding, leadership and people-management experience
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare, or working towards where appropriate
- Strong understanding of Children's Homes Regulations and Ofsted expectations
- Full UK driving licence preferred
Responsible Individual
We are also seeking an experienced Responsible Individual to provide strategic leadership, governance and oversight across the service.
You will support the Registered Manager and ensure the home maintains the highest standards of care, compliance and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting and mentoring the Registered Manager
- Providing strategic oversight and leadership
- Ensuring regulatory and safeguarding compliance
- Driving continuous improvement and quality assurance
- Supporting the development and growth of the service
- Promoting a strong, child-centred organisational culture
- Ensuring the service delivers meaningful outcomes for young people
Ideal RI Experience
- Previous Responsible Individual experience or significant senior operational leadership
- Experience overseeing children's residential services
- Strong knowledge of Ofsted and regulatory requirements
- Proven experience in quality assurance and service development
- Strong leadership and governance skills
- A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people
