We are looking for an experienced Warehouse & Yard Operative / Forklift Driver who is ready for a new opportunity and wants to progress within a growing business. This role is ideal for someone currently working in a warehouse or building merchant environment who is looking to develop their career into operations, sales or management.
The Role
You will play a key role in the day-to-day running of our busy yard and warehouse, working closely with the team and supporting core operations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Operating counterbalance and/or combi forklifts
- Picking and preparing customer orders
- Loading and unloading deliveries
- Assisting with goods in and goods out
- Delivering materials when required
- Supporting stock control and yard organisation
- Heavy manual handling of timber and building materials
- Assisting the Operations Manager and the wider team with daily operations
As you develop in the role, there will be opportunities to take on additional responsibilities in administration, sales and operational planning, with a clear pathway towards an Assistant Manager position.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
- Has forklift experience (counterbalance or combi forklift – experience in at least one is essential)
- Holds a valid UK driving licence
- Has experience working in a warehouse, yard or builders merchant environment
- Is physically fit and comfortable with manual handling
- Is reliable, punctual and hardworking
- Has a positive attitude and is willing to take on responsibility
- Is looking for long-term career progression
Desirable (but not essential):
- Valid forklift licence/certification
- Experience delivering goods locally
