HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Current Opportunity: Assistant Surveyor
Location: Based in Birmingham - the Central Region runs from the east of Birmingham into the city centre, comprising Sublot Delta, 1B, 4 and 5S. More than 50% of the structures within IPT Area North are located in the Central Region. This region, which covers a complex urban environment, also includes the 3.5 mile twin bore Bromford Tunnel. It also includes Interchange Station, as well as crossing three major highways (A45, M6 and M42).
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with setting out and surveying activities for construction works.
- Support senior surveyors and engineers in maintaining accurate site control networks.
- Carry out topographical, as-built, and construction surveys.
- Process and manage survey data using industry-standard software.
- Ensure survey records, reports, and documentation are maintained accurately.
- Support quality assurance processes and compliance with engineering standards.
- Work closely with site teams to provide technical surveying support.
- Assist in identifying and resolving surveying and engineering issues on site.
Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.

Essential Experience:
- Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or related discipline.
- Understanding of engineering surveying principles and techniques.
- Experience using surveying equipment such as Total Stations, GPS/GNSS, and Digital Levels.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
Full UK driving licence or ability to travel across project sites.
