Senior Transport Business Development / Commercial Director – Consultancy
Remote / Hybrid | UK Transport & Haulage
We are looking for a senior commercial professional with an established network within the UK transport and logistics industry who can bring genuine haulage opportunities into our business.
This is not a traditional corporate Commercial Director position.
We are looking for someone who already has relationships with transport buyers and knows how to turn those relationships into regular vehicle movements, dedicated lanes and long-term contracts.
About Us
MVP Logistics is an established UK haulage operator with depots in the East Midlands and East of England.
We operate a modern fleet of 44-tonne HGVs and currently have operator licence capacity for up to 30 vehicles, with further expansion planned as new contracts are secured.
Our operation and fleet are already in place. The objective of this role is to help us grow the customer base and put additional vehicles to work profitably.
What We Are Looking For
We want to speak with people who have strong existing relationships with:
- 3PLs and major logistics providers
- Retailers and distribution networks
- Manufacturers
- Freight forwarders
- Transport and procurement departments
- Businesses purchasing regular UK haulage capacity
The strongest candidates will already know where opportunities exist and who they need to speak to.
We are particularly interested in:
- Regular FTL work
- Dedicated daily lanes
- Traction-only contracts
- Curtain-side work
- Distribution and multi-drop operations
- Regular backload opportunities
- Ad-hoc work that can develop into consistent volume
We are open to refrigerated, box trailer and specialist opportunities where the volumes justify investing in additional equipment.
Your Role
Your focus will be on winning profitable transport work.
You will:
- Introduce MVP Logistics to relevant customers within your existing network.
- Identify and secure new contracts and regular transport lanes.
- Develop opportunities capable of supporting multiple vehicles.
- Negotiate rates and commercial terms alongside the management team.
- Build long-term relationships with transport buyers.
- Work with our operations team to ensure new contracts are commercially and operationally viable.
- Help identify opportunities for further fleet and depot expansion.
Who This Role Will Suit
This opportunity would suit an experienced:
- Logistics Commercial Director
- Transport Business Development Director
- Senior Business Development Manager
- Transport Consultant
- Former 3PL commercial or procurement professional
You should have a demonstrable history of winning transport business rather than simply managing existing accounts.
An established UK customer network is essential.
We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates who believe their existing relationships could realistically generate work for 5–10 vehicles within the early stages of the relationship.
Commercial Arrangement
We are flexible on structure for the right person.
This could include a consultancy arrangement, retainer and performance-related commission, or a longer-term commercial position depending on the candidate and results delivered.
For someone who makes a substantial long-term contribution to the growth of the business, there may also be an opportunity to discuss equity participation.
Interested?
If you already know the UK transport market, have strong relationships with transport buyers and believe you can bring genuine opportunities to the table, we would like to hear from you.
When applying, please briefly outline the sectors you have relationships in and the type of transport opportunities you believe you could realistically introduce.
