Job Purpose
The Stores Person is responsible for the safe and efficient handling, storage, receipt, and dispatch of materials used in the manufacture of uPVC windows and doors. The role plays a key part in maintaining stock accuracy, supporting production operations, and ensuring that materials are available when required. The successful candidate will ideally hold a valid forklift truck licence and be capable of working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate forklift trucks to load, unload, move, and store materials.
- Receive and book in deliveries accurately using the company’s stock control system.
- Check incoming goods against delivery notes and purchase orders, reporting any shortages or damages.
- Offload supplier vehicles and ensure materials are stored correctly and safely.
- Pick, prepare, and load materials for production and customer deliveries.
- Carry out stock rotation to ensure materials are used in the correct order and minimise waste.
- Maintain accurate stock levels through regular stock checks and cycle counts.
- Assist with stock control activities and report discrepancies to the Stores Supervisor.
- Ensure the warehouse and storage areas are kept clean, organised, and free from hazards.
- Perform manual handling tasks safely, including lifting, carrying, and moving materials.
- Comply with all company health and safety procedures and safe systems of work.
- Support other warehouse and production activities as required.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence (RTITB, ITSSAR, NPORS, or equivalent).
- Previous experience in a stores, warehouse, or manufacturing environment.
- Experience of booking in deliveries and handling stock.
- Good understanding of stock rotation and stock control procedures.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely and efficiently.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively.
Desirable
- Experience within the uPVC window and door industry or a similar manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with warehouse management or ERP systems.
- Additional forklift licences (e.g., Reach Truck, Combi Lift, or Side Loader).

Working Conditions

- Regular manual handling and forklift operation.
- PPE must be worn at all times in designated areas.
- Overtime may be required during peak production periods.

Pay: £12.71-£12.81 per hour
