Job Description
As a Support Worker at Harmony Manor, you will play a vital role in supporting the welfare, safety, and development of the young people in our care. You will work within a dedicated team to create a positive, caring, and consistent environment where every child can thrive emotionally, socially, and educationally. Your day-to-day work will involve supporting young people with their routines, education, and personal development while encouraging positive behaviour and independence. You will collaborate closely with the Home Manager, Senior Support Workers, social workers, and other professionals to ensure that each child’s individual care plan is implemented effectively. This role is ideal for someone with a genuine passion for working with children, a strong sense of empathy, and a commitment to making a lasting difference in young people’s lives.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care and supervision to children and young people in line with their individual care plans.
- Support children in developing life skills, confidence, and independence.
- Assist with daily routines such as education, meals, recreational activities, and personal care where necessary.
- Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment at all times.
- Build trusting relationships that promote emotional well-being and stability.
- Accurately record and report daily activities, incidents, and observations.
- Work collaboratively with team members, managers, and external professionals to promote positive outcomes.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development programmes.
- Manage challenging behaviour calmly and appropriately using de-escalation and behaviour support techniques.
- Ensure all safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality policies are followed at all times.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 2 year's experience working in a residential childcare setting (within the last 5 years
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it).
- Experience working with children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) or challenging behaviour is desirable.
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Must have the Right to Work in the UK.
