Job Title: Trainee Tool Setter
Job Summary:
The Trainee Tool Setter assists in setting up, adjusting, and maintaining tooling and production machinery to support efficient manufacturing operations. The role involves learning machine setup procedures, following safety standards, and ensuring production quality while developing technical skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with setting up tools, dies, moulds, and fixtures on production machines.
- Learn to perform machine changeovers according to production schedules.
- Help inspect tools and equipment for wear or damage.
- Support machine adjustments to maintain product quality.
- Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of tooling and equipment.
- Follow health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.
- Read and understand engineering drawings and work instructions.
- Record setup activities and production data accurately.
- Work closely with production operators, maintenance staff, and supervisors.
- Participate in training programs to develop technical and problem-solving skills.
Requirements
- GCSE or A Level
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to use hand tools and measuring instruments.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work shifts and stand for extended periods if required.
Preferred Skills
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings and measuring equipment.
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices.
- Computer literacy for recording production data.
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing or production environment.
- Exposure to machinery, noise, and moving equipment.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
