Junior Specialist Doctor (JSD) - Higher in Respiratory Medicine
The post will be a fixed term post for a period of 1 year and will commence as soon as possible with the possibility of longer-term opportunities within the Trust subject to performance and progress. The post would be at aimed at junior grade ST 3 + level (i.e. 3/4 years post qualification/post foundation level) and whilst not approved training posts we would mirror the training opportunities to those given to training post holders. The JSD Higher post will allow you to consolidate your experience in a supportive environment, giving you wide ranging clinical exposure and training in a progressive Trust that has won numerous national and local awards. We would be keen to work with successful applicants and help you continue to build your Respiratory Medicine Career. We envisage that the JSD Higher the post holder will have completed/working towards completion of full MRCP. The candidate would be expected to participate in general medical on-call Rota. The candidate will have consultant support when on call. The post will be based primarily at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital. However, the post holder will be required to work at any of the Trust’s sites for clinics/MDT etc .

1. To collaborate and work to maintain general/respiratory services in line with strategic requirements.
2. To provide, with the other doctors in the general and respiratory medicine, routine and emergency specialty services to the Trust, operating a system of mutual out-of-hours cover, and cover for annual, study and professional leave.
3. To liaise with medical staff in other specialties and participate in clinical meetings and postgraduate activities in the Trust.
4. Assessment and initiation of management of patients in the Respiratory Medicine under the supervision of consultant staff.
5. Prompt assessment of patients referred for admission from Emergency Department and general practitioners.
6. Day to day follow-up of patients under the care of the team.
7. Prompt response to medical emergencies as required.
8. Participation on the relevant out of hours rotas.
