Summary of the position :
All aspects of vineyard and estate work to ensure, as a vineyard team, high quality fruit and commercial yields are delivered and that all estate areas are well maintained and presented.
Key Responsibilities
Duties are to include both mechanical and manual operations and will cover the broad spectrum of vineyard work on the estate. At peak times you may be required to work inside the winery/bottling facility at Madehurst.
Vineyard:
- Vine maintenance duties to include but not limited to; planting, pruning, tying down, frost protection, bud and shoot removal, leaf removal, green harvest, harvest
- Trellis installation and maintenance.
- Vine mechanical duties; spraying pesticides/herbicides, mowing, trimming, de-leafing, under-vine cultivation. Use of hand tools such as strimmers, trimmers etc.
- Supervise and motivate external labour teams as required.
- Recording vineyard data as and when required.
- Carry out routine checks on equipment and machinery.
- Undertake any relevant training which may be deemed necessary to ensure duties are carried out effectivel
Safety:
- You are required to maintain a safe workplace and comply with all applicable Health & Safety regulations
- Identify hazards and reporting to management
- Operate with high levels of safety at all times
- Ensure safety policies are acknowledged and carried out
Skills & Experience
- Viticulture experience desirable but not essential
- Strong work ethic, timekeeping, and attention to detail
- Proactive self-starter
- Experience working with tractors and machinery
- PA1, PA2 & PA3 spray certificates desirable
- A clean driver’s license is desirable
Training
- The successful applicant will receive full training
- There may be times when you are required to attend a training course which is either held onsite or off site.
General
- At Artelium we work very much as a team. The successful applicant must be prepared to support other work colleagues and may be required to take on extra or different tasks to help support others.
- As with all staff, a happy, welcoming approach to all customers who visit the site is essential.
- You may be required to wear some items of your own clothing. At all times personal appearance should be professional and in accordance with Artelium Wine Estate Policy.
Hours of Work
- This is a full-time position
- Being punctual and prepared to start your shift on time is essential.
- Usual hours are 07:30 – 16:00 Monday - Friday
- At times it may be necessary for you to work additional hours (e.g. for harvest, spraying etc.), or different days depending upon the weather and to cover a colleague’s sickness, holidays or training. Flexibility in this area is an advantage.
Pay: £25,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
