Residential Support Worker – Mid Devon
We are looking for compassionate and committed individuals to join our team supporting young people in a residential home in Mid Devon. The young people we support are profoundly deaf and require assistance with all aspects of daily living, while being encouraged to develop independence, confidence and life skills.
Communication is at the heart of the role. All of our young people use British Sign Language (BSL), alongside AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devices and visual communication methods. Previous knowledge of BSL is desirable but not essential, as full training and BSL courses will be provided based on your current experience and qualifications.
Our home is equipped with specialist facilities and equipment designed to meet the needs of individuals with sensory loss, including specialist fire alarm systems, vibrating alert devices, minicom technology and internet-based communication tools such as FaceTime and Skype.
As a Residential Support Worker, you will:
- Support young people with their daily routines, personal development and wellbeing.
- Encourage independence and promote positive outcomes.
- Help plan and take part in a wide range of activities, hobbies and educational opportunities.
- Support young people to attend Deaf community events and engage with the wider Deaf community.
- Work collaboratively with local organisations and professionals to provide the best possible care.
- Contribute to the day-to-day running of the home and maintain a safe, nurturing environment.
We are looking for passionate, creative and caring individuals who want to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people. In return, you'll join a welcoming and experienced team, receive comprehensive induction and ongoing training, and benefit from the support of a dedicated management team committed to your professional development.
Successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references in line with government regulations and safer recruitment practices.
If you'd like, I can also rewrite this as a recruitment advert that is more engaging and aimed at attracting candidates.
