Job Title: R&D Engineer (Research & Development)
Location: Dungannon, Co. Tyrone
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 + Benefits (Fully negotiable depending on experience)
About the Client:
Our client is a highly successful, globally recognised manufacturing and heavy engineering firm based in Dungannon. Known as a market leader in the design and manufacture of industrial materials handling, recycling, and screening equipment, they are expanding their dedicated R&D division due to ongoing product innovation and global market expansion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the design, development, and prototyping of next-generation industrial machinery and mechanical systems.
- Utilise 3D CAD software (such as SolidWorks or Creo) to generate detailed manufacturing drawings, structural models, and component schematics.
- Conduct thorough product testing, mechanical stress analysis (FEA), and technical evaluations on prototypes to optimize machine performance.
- Collaborate closely with the fabrication workshop, production lines, and sourcing teams to guide concepts smoothly into full-scale manufacturing.
- Compile comprehensive engineering documentation, including Bill of Materials (BOMs), assembly work instructions, and technical specifications.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities to enhance machine reliability, reduce material waste, and lower production costs.
Requirements:
- Degree or Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Mechatronics, or a highly relevant technical discipline.
- 2–4+ years' experience working within a mechanical product development, R&D, or heavy machinery design environment.
- High proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks, Solid Edge, or Creo) and creating structural manufacturing drawings.
- Practical understanding of manufacturing processes, including steel fabrication, hydraulics, pneumatics, or heavy power-train configurations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to prototype testing and mechanical troubleshooting.
