We are seeking a dedicated Supplier Quality Engineer within the Supplier Quality team, dedicated to the high-profile platform. In this critical role, you will act as the primary Supplier Quality representative for all Electric Propulsion and High Voltage Systems associated with the program.
You will bridge the gap between Program Management, Powertrain Engineering, and key Tier-1 electrification suppliers. Your focus will be ensuring that all HV components—from traction batteries and silicon-carbide inverters to electric motors and power distribution units—meet stringent standards for power density, safety, reliability, and manufacturing quality ahead of production gateways.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Gateways: Drive Supplier Quality deliverables (APQP, PPAP, and launch readiness) specifically tailored to the program milestones from concept phase to Job 1.
- Commodity Oversight: Lead supplier quality assurance for High Voltage systems, including HV Battery Packs, Battery Management Systems (BMS), Inverters, Electric Drive Units (EDUs), On-Board Chargers (OBC), and DC-DC Converters.
- Supplier Advanced Quality Management: Partner with high-voltage Tier-1 suppliers to ensure robust Design for Manufacture (DfM), Process FMEAs (PFMEA), Control Plans, and functional end-of-line (EOL) testing protocols.
- HV Safety & Compliance: Ensure all incoming components meet global safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262 functional safety, ECE R100 electric safety, UN38.3 transport compliance) and McLaren’s internal HV validation requirements.
- Root Cause Analysis & Containment: Lead fast-response technical investigations (8D, 5-Why) for prototype build issues, test bench failures, and early launch non-conformances related to electrical hardware and software/firmware integration.
- On-Site Audits & Launch Support: Perform process audits (VDA 6.3) at supplier facilities producing high-voltage electronics, cell assemblies, and motor windings to verify production rate capabilities (Run-at-Rate) and cleanliness standards (e.g., ISO cleanrooms for electronics).
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Work alongside McLaren Electric Powertrain Engineering, Vehicle Integration, and Manufacturing to align functional specs with supplier capability.
