About the Role
Storm Maintenance is looking for an organised, reliable and commercially minded Office Assistant / Finance Controller to join our team.
This is a varied office-based role combining day-to-day administration with financial control and bookkeeping responsibilities. The successful candidate will play an important part in keeping our office running smoothly, maintaining accurate financial records, monitoring payments and supporting the management team.
We are looking for someone who is confident working independently, highly organised and comfortable dealing with customers, suppliers and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing day-to-day office administration
- Raising and processing customer invoices
- Monitoring outstanding invoices and chasing payments
- Processing supplier invoices and keeping records up to date
- Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Reconciling bank transactions and company expenditure
- Maintaining accurate financial records
- Assisting with payroll information and timesheets
- Monitoring company expenses, purchase orders and supplier payments
- Preparing basic financial reports for management
- Liaising with customers, suppliers and contractors regarding invoices and payments
- Answering telephone calls and responding to emails
- Maintaining job records, documents and filing systems
- Supporting the management team with general administrative duties
- Working with the company's accountant/bookkeeper where required
About You
The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous experience in office administration, bookkeeping, accounts or finance
- Be confident using Microsoft Excel and other office software
- Have experience with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage (desirable)
- Have excellent attention to detail
- Be comfortable managing invoices, payments and financial records
- Be organised and able to prioritise a varied workload
- Have good written and verbal communication skills
- Be confident dealing with customers and suppliers
- Be trustworthy and able to handle confidential financial information
- Be proactive and able to work independently
Experience within a maintenance, construction, property, facilities management or trades business would be advantageous but is not essential.
