Age Connects West Midlands is looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Community Centre Coordinator to oversee the day-to-day operation and growth of Hawkesley Community Centre.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, building partnerships, developing community connections and ensuring a community venue remains safe, welcoming and well-used.
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing the daily operation of Hawkesley Community Centre.
- Ensuring the building is safe, compliant, clean and welcoming.
- Carrying out health and safety and building compliance checks.
- Acting as the main point of contact for centre users and hirers.
- Building relationships with community groups, charities, businesses and local services.
- Promoting the centre and attracting new hirers and activities.
- Coordinating funded projects and centre improvement initiatives.
- Monitoring bookings, enquiries, projects and centre performance.
- Line managing cleaning staff and coordinating contractors where required.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking someone who is:
- A confident communicator and relationship builder.
- Comfortable networking and engaging with local organisations.
- Proactive in identifying opportunities to increase centre usage.
- Organised, reliable and able to manage competing priorities.
- Confident using Microsoft Office and digital systems.
- Knowledgeable about health and safety and risk awareness.
- Passionate about supporting communities and creating positive local impact.
Experience required
- Community centre, charity, customer service or facilities experience.
- Project coordination or grant-funded project experience.
- Knowledge of local community and voluntary sector networks.
- Understanding of the Hawkesley, Kings Norton or wider Birmingham community.
