Experienced Barista – Artisan Roastery Coffee Houses (Chippenham) 30/03
At Coffee Gems, we don’t just serve coffee; we host an experience. Our coffee house and roastery are built on heritage, we have a commitment to excellence and locally roast only the world’s top 1% quality beans. We are looking for an experienced barista who's deeply interested in speciality coffee and views hospitality as a craft, taking pride in being the heart of a local community.
This is a role for a professional who is as comfortable perfecting a flat white as they are managing bean recommendations, the flow of a busy room and making every customer feel like a regular.
We are looking for someone who understands that Artisan applies to the service as much as the beans.
- You don’t just wait for orders; you manage the environment. You notice the uncleared table, the customer waiting for a recommendation, and the vibe of the shop.
- You possess the muscle memory of a seasoned Barista; dialling in, milk texturing, and latte art are second nature, allowing you to remain present and engaging with customers while you work.
- You are warm, friendly, and accessible. You can talk comfortably about bean origins and brewing methods without being exclusionary.
To maintain our high standards, we need a consistent team member who can commit to the business.
- This is a specialist role. You must have proven, professional Barista experience in a fast-paced environment.
- A minimum of 15 hours per week. You need to be available for a flexible 7-day rota, including regular weekend shifts as well as mid-week.
- Ideally, you live in or very near Chippenham, allowing you to truly become a part of our local coffee culture.

- Manage milk, pastries and other ingredients to ensure proper stock rotation and freshness.
Customer service & sales
- Provide friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient service to every customer.
- Accurately take orders and handle cash and card transactions using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Engage with customers to build rapport and a strong sense of community.
- Answer questions about our coffee beans, coffee equipment, drinks and food menu (including allergen information), and wider products.
Daily operations
- Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the coffee bar, seating areas, and restrooms.
