Job Title: Care Assistant (Nights)
Reports To: Senior Care Assistant / Nurse in Charge / Home Manager
Location: Nursing Home
Hours: Night Shifts -Full-time -
Job Purpose
To provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to residents during night shifts, ensuring their comfort, safety, dignity, and wellbeing. The Care Assistant will assist residents with personal care needs, respond promptly to requests for assistance, and maintain a safe and calm environment throughout the night.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centred care in line with individual care plans.
- Assist residents with personal care, including toileting, continence care, dressing, and repositioning.
- Support residents who require assistance during the night.
- Promote residents' dignity, choice, independence, and privacy at all times.
- Provide reassurance and emotional support to residents who may feel anxious or distressed.
Monitoring and Wellbeing
- Carry out regular checks on residents in accordance with care plans and home procedures.
- Monitor residents' physical and emotional wellbeing and report any concerns to the senior member of staff on duty.
- Respond promptly to nurse call systems and emergency situations.
- Accurately record all care provided during the shift.
Household Duties
- Ensure residents' rooms and communal areas remain clean, tidy, and safe.
- Assist with light domestic duties as required during quieter periods.
- Prepare the home for the following day shift where appropriate.
Health and Safety
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times.
- Adhere to moving and handling guidelines and use equipment safely.
- Report accidents, incidents, maintenance issues, hazards, and safeguarding concerns immediately.
- Support the security of the building during night hours.
Team Working
- Participate in shift handovers and communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Work closely with nurses, senior carers, and management to ensure continuity of care.
- Attend mandatory training and complete required learning and development activities.

Desirable
- Previous experience in a nursing home setting.
- NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards).
- Experience supporting older people, including those living with dementia.

Pay: £12.71 per hour
