Biskits Diner is a busy, independent restaurant serving high-quality breakfast, brunch, lunch and diner favourites. We pride ourselves on fresh food, excellent customer service and creating a welcoming atmosphere for every guest. We are looking for an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen team and help take our food offering to the next level.
The Role
As Head Chef, you will be responsible for the overall management of the kitchen, ensuring every dish leaving the pass meets our high standards. You will lead, motivate and develop the kitchen team while maintaining excellent food quality, consistency, hygiene and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all day-to-day kitchen operations.
- Prepare and oversee the cooking and presentation of all menu items.
- Develop new seasonal dishes and specials while maintaining our core menu.
- Recruit, train and mentor kitchen staff.
- Create rotas and manage staffing levels to meet business needs.
- Monitor stock levels, place orders and build strong supplier relationships.
- Control food costs, wastage and labour costs to achieve profitability targets.
- Ensure full compliance with Food Hygiene, HACCP and Health & Safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen at all times.
- Work closely with the front-of-house team to deliver an outstanding customer experience.
- Lead by example during busy services, maintaining calm under pressure.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience as a Head Chef or an experienced Sous Chef ready to step up.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent knowledge of food preparation, presentation and kitchen operations.
- Experience with stock control, ordering and food costing.
- Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Good understanding of HACCP and food safety legislation.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining exceptional standards.
- Passion for fresh, quality food and continuous improvement.
