About the role
We are a growing Civil Engineering company seeking a motivated Administration Assistant to join and support our Commercial Team.
This is a full-time, entry-level position. We are looking for an individual eager to build a career within the Civil Engineering industry; no prior experience is required as comprehensive, on-the-job training will be provided from day one. The role is fully based at our St Mary Hoo office, working alongside our commercial team – the best environment for hands-on learning, mentoring, and rapid development.
Key responsibilities
- Providing administrative support to the commercial team.
- Assisting with cost reports, valuations, and commercial documentation.
- Maintaining project records, spreadsheets, and filing systems.
- Supporting document control for live Civils projects.
- Communicating with site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- General office administration, including emails and phone calls.
Career development opportunity
This role offers significant long-term career potential. For a candidate who demonstrates strong performance, commitment, and an aptitude for the commercial side of the business, we may consider supporting further education. This includes the potential for university study towards a Quantity Surveying qualification, subject to business needs.
Any support for further education would be reviewed after a successful period of employment.
About you
- Highly motivated to begin or pivot into a career in the Civils or commercial sector.
- An interest in Quantity Surveying.
- Well-organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- A proactive learner with a positive "can-do" attitude.
- Confident with basic IT (Microsoft Word, Excel, and email).
- A background or qualification in finance (e.g. AAT or a finance-related degree) would be preferred, as these skills transfer well to a Quantity Surveying role, although this is not essential.
- Reliable, professional, and keen to progress within a growing company.
What we offer
- Full-time, permanent employment.
- Structured on-the-job training and mentoring.
- Direct exposure to live Civil Engineering projects and commercial processes.
- A clear pathway for professional progression within the business.
- A supportive and professional working environment.
- Free use of the on-site gym.
