Invictus Complex Care is looking for a caring, reliable and enthusiastic Female Health Care Assistant to join a small, dedicated team supporting a lovely young girl with complex needs in Lichfield.
Our client is a bright and engaging young girl who lives with Cerebral Palsy, Autism and Epilepsy and is non-verbal. She communicates in her own unique way and thrives with kind, consistent carers who take the time to understand her personality, communication and sensory preferences. Full client-specific training will be provided by our experienced nursing team. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in complex care while working alongside a supportive team with access to 24/7 clinical support.
We are currently recruiting for 2 positions-
- 3 waking night shifts per week (9:00pm – 8:30am). This will be on a 6 weekly rota, with a requirement for 1 in 3 weekends. There will also be opportunities to work occasional day shifts, waking nights and additional shifts to provide annual leave and sickness cover, therefore flexibility is essential. From time to time, you may also have the opportunity to support our client and her family on holidays within the UK and overseas, making this a varied and rewarding role.
- 10 hours per week. Candidates will need to be flexible, in order to work a variety of shifts, however these shifts will often be in the afternoon between the hours of 12.00 and 21.30
The Waking Night Role
Night shifts are generally calm and structured but require focus, vigilance and commitment throughout.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring for seizure activity throughout the night.
- Supporting our client to settle back to sleep if she wakes.
- Administering medication (full training provided).
- Providing personal care when required.
- Supporting the morning routine, including dressing, breakfast and medication.
- Using her AAC communication device to support communication.
- Assisting with sensory activities, positioning and therapy programmes as directed by the multidisciplinary team.
We are looking for someone who remains alert, responsive and compassionate throughout the night.
Additional Day Shifts
There may also be opportunities to work occasional day shifts, supporting our client with activities such as:
- Sensory play and communication activities.
- Swimming, park visits and community outings.
- Rebound therapy and physiotherapy programmes.
- Supporting therapy goals set by Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Speech & Language Therapists.
- Personal care, mealtime support and promoting independence.
- Supporting our client and her family during holidays and short breaks within the UK and abroad, helping to ensure they can enjoy meaningful time together whilst maintaining her care needs.
The 10 hours per week role:
This role is varied hours- however the hours will predominantly be in the afternoon between the hours of 12.00 and 21.30.
Your main role will be:
- Community visits
- School pick ups
- Supporting at Rebound therapy and physiotherapy
- Sensory activities whilst at home
About You
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a Health Care Assistant and be a great team player who enjoys working closely with both families and healthcare professionals.
Experience supporting children or young people with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Epilepsy or non-verbal communication is highly desirable.

- Is reliable, committed and dependable.
- Is flexible and willing to work occasional day shifts, provide additional cover where required and support the client on UK and overseas holidays.
- Remains calm and confident in emergency situations.
- Is observant and able to recognise changes in a client's condition.
- Has a genuine passion for making a positive difference to a young person's life.
- Is keen to learn and develop within complex care.
- Works well within a multidisciplinary team and values family-centred care.
- Has experience working within family homes.
- Holds a full UK driving licence.
- Has the right to live and work in the UK.
