Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Activities Co-ordinator to enrich the lives of residents in our Care Home. In this vital role, you will design, organise, and facilitate engaging activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. Duties
- Develop and implement a diverse calendar of activities tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, and care needs
- Lead group activities such as arts and crafts, music sessions, games, and outings that foster socialisation and enjoyment
- Provide one-on-one engagement for residents requiring personalised attention or experiencing cognitive challenges like dementia or Alzheimer’s disease
- Collaborate with care staff to assess individual resident preferences and adapt activities accordingly
- Monitor resident participation and well-being during activities, ensuring safety and comfort at all times
- Maintain accurate records of activity participation and resident feedback to inform ongoing programming through electronic record keeping.
- Foster an inclusive atmosphere that encourages residents to express themselves freely and build meaningful relationships
Requirements
- Proven experience in assisted living or nursing home environments, with a focus on senior care, dementia care, mental health and rehabilitation is desirable.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and team members
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia care strategies to support residents with cognitive impairments
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organise, and lead engaging activities for diverse groups of people.
- Compassionate attitude with excellent interpersonal skills to build trust and rapport with residents
- Ability to adapt activities for residents with varying physical and cognitive abilities
- Relevant certifications in care and/or activities related skills are advantageous but not mandatory
