Kitchen Lead — Berkhamsted, Hemel Taprooms and Berkhamsted Cricket club
Mad Squirrel is a Hertfordshire craft brewery with a growing family of taprooms, and we take our food just as seriously as our beer. We're looking for a passionate, hands-on Kitchen lead to take ownership of our Berkhamsted kitchens — someone who brings energy, high standards, and real pride to every service.
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone ready to step up, make their mark, and be a key part of a team that genuinely cares about what it does.
What you'll be doing:
- Running the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, keeping things efficient and well-organised
- Managing stock, food ordering, and ensuring proper stock rotation
- Training and developing the kitchen team, maintaining consistency and quality
- Helping to create new recipes and exciting food presentation ideas
- Ensuring all hygiene, food safety, and health standards are met and recorded accurately
- Keeping kitchen due diligence and paperwork up to date
- Working closely with the wider bar team to deliver a seamless guest experience
What we're looking for:
- At least 6 months' experience in a food or catering environment
- A confident cook who takes real pride in their output
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- A proactive, can-do attitude
What we offer:
- Monthly cash beer allowance
- 15% discount across all Mad Squirrel taprooms via membership card
- 50% discount on pizza and food, plus membership points
- Employee Assistance Programme
