The salary will be within VBSS Specialist 1 support scale, £31,263 - £35,190 per annum dependent on qualifications, skills and experience.
As Exams Manager within the Quality & Standards team, you will be required to demonstrate strong leadership, strategic oversight, and a high level of autonomy, self-motivation, organisational skills, and initiative. The focus of the role is to lead and manage the college's examination’s function, ensuring the delivery of a professional, customer-focused, and compliant service to internal stakeholders and external organisations, including Awarding Bodies and regulatory authorities.
You will lead and manage the college's examinations and assessment function, ensuring that all external and internal examinations are administered efficiently, accurately and in accordance with awarding-body regulations, JCQ requirements and college policies.
You will have overall responsibility for the planning, coordination, management, and continuous improvement of all examinations-related activities and processes across the college, ensuring that key deadlines are met and awarding body regulations are adhered to at all times.
The role requires you to provide operational leadership and management of the Exams team, ensuring resources are effectively deployed to meet business demands and deliver high levels of service. You will oversee workload planning, performance management, staff development, and the implementation of efficient and effective working practices.
Working closely with curriculum, support services, senior leaders, and external partners, you will ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of examinations data and processes. You will be responsible for producing, analysing, and presenting management information reports, using data to inform decision-making, identify trends, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
It is essential that you possess excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills, with the confidence and authority to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels across the college and with external organisations. You will demonstrate the ability to manage competing priorities, work under pressure to tight deadlines within the college's business cycle, and maintain the highest standards of accuracy, confidentiality, and information security.
You will lead and manage the Exams team to ensure the successful delivery of all examination and assessment activities throughout the academic year, promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, compliance, and continuous improvement.
